Photoshop through the yearsLibrary Thread

http://www.pixelgenius.com/tips/schewe-pshistory.pdf

It's an article from Feb 2000, 10 years after the release of Photoshop 1.0, that goes through the evolution of PS from 0.07 to 5.5.  Best line from the article - "Adobe Photoshop 1.0 shipped on a single 800k disk."

OK here's the question. What is the first version of photoshop you USED to edit a photo you SOLD.

Mine was 3.1

I used Paint Shop Pro in the early years, and I don't remember the version.

Comments and Harsh Critiques gladly accepted. My photos are ok to edit.

The link worked for me . . .

I first used PS 5.5, then 7.0.  In fact, I only jumped from 7.0 to CS3 in the last two months.

I went from pse 2.0 to 7.0 to cs3. I've got a lot to learn from cs3, but a lot of photos are magically fixed on cs3 with auto functions, and I LOOOVE smart sharpen Smiley Yes, of course you need to apply curves a bit and there's a ton I need to teach myself...but the hope is to do right in camera, eh?

Contrast is a term used too often, I hope no one touches that slider, don't touch, touch it if you want to kill your image.

There are other means to get that "Contrast"

i almost never use the contrast slider, but I will if I need too.

When a client tells me I shouldn't have used the contrast slider on their prints, then I'll never use it again.

Contrast is a term that most don't understand the meaning, too bad.

And NO, the contrast slider is NOT how you get the tones of an image.

Agreed.  And yes, too bad.

Forgot to say, I started using Photoshop in '93.  I think it was version 3?  Don't know, but I've been using it since then.
