I am sorry if you guys are sick of this session, it's just the one I am currently working on and I have a model release for it... which is rare for this stuff.
Anyway, I wouldn't say pinup is my style, but we went for it with this one. The model is wearing a corset designed by my sister.

Crop above the knees Light is low You have a great model working with you. keep it up.
Your sister did amazing, nicely done
35mm? It appears the head looks larger, but, that could be good for pin up.
An expression of saying "Ooooooooooh," as in a surprised way, "You caught me," is more pin up. Or the "Shhhhhhh" with finger at lips, or "Cheezy" expressions are called for in pin ups.
Thanks for the suggestions Mike. I honestly wasn't sure where to crop, I loved her knee so much. I can't shoot full length because of the studio size. And yeah, I should have stood further back and zoomed... Her head actually was normal sized and her body was itsy bitsy. The poofy hair and my lens length didn't help.
The expression wasn't my favourite, but her body position was the best in this frame.
My light was low... I had her kneeling then stood her up without moving the light, my bad, I need to be more mindful.
Thanks Mike. I have honestly done 6 studio sesions EVER. I want to try more hollywood style lighting, and I believe I know exactly what you are talking about. However, remember I am still working on the basics, lol. I am not making excuses. I honestly am really excited with what I have done with studio lights so far. I thought they would be harder, I avoided them for so many years. I am making lots of mistakes, but I feel like none of them have ruined the image too horribly. Mike, I appreciate all your feedback about posing, lighting and whatever. So thanks.
I like everything about the shot except the crop and the background. Crop above the joint.
Its "not normal" but tell her to stand still and take a shot of her legs and stitch them together.
I've done it a few times as my studio space is too small as well.

it's not that my studio is too small to get a full length, I can get far enough away, it's the backgrounds, because at that point it would look like she is standing on a bed... because well, she is, albeit a fake one (a comforter and pillows on the ground). I need more backdrop options, I know. I don't even own the lights yet. It's a money thing. Plus, my area is small. I can't put a real bed in because I have to gather it up to set up any other backdrops and props, like my grey chaise lounge.

How about one of those inflatable beds? I got a twin sized one at Target for $19 that we use when my stepson comes to visit. They're really light and easy to move. Of course, no standing on them with high heels, ha ha.

It would still be the same problem. I just can't show the edge of the bed, it would obvious it was just a mattress on the floor.I am stuck shooting straight at the back of the "bed" where the pillows are stacked against the wall and the drapes. I am having a hard time with lying down poses because of this, I can't shoot from the side.
