recent wedding

I am down to editing my last wedding, then I will be somewhat caught up.  I am shooting a fashion show today, then I have a senior session next week then I can relax for awhile.

This is from the latest wedding.  I had such a weird space to work with.  I hate that wreath behind them, while I was trying to get overall shots I noticed it was going around the bishop's head perfectly to make him look like he had a huge head with a floral arrangement on top.
I was practically on the floor for this shot.  I am not saying it's fabulous, just my best attempt at an angle.

Unfortunately, this shot has a lot going against it. You can't see the bishop at all (except for a piece of his hand) so you can't even tell if this is part of the ceremony or just a meeting in a hallway. The face of the bride is barely visible. The gang in the back all have red hands and funky shadows. The little boy has sprouted a tree out of his head. The lights in the middle are blinding. Though you really tried with this shot to get that wreath out of the way, I think this is one of those "I tried" shots that gets put aside. Can you show us some of the straight on shots that you took? Perhaps the wreath can be cloned out. Smiley If you do want to include this, I'd do a crop, to get rid of some of the extra elements. I'd also dodge him a bit, to get rid of some of that redness. Hope you don't mind, but here's basically what I'm thinking:

I shot the same pose, but cropped like that, I didn't care for it, because it is such an odd angle of the bride's head.  I need to get the rest of the wedding edited, we got plenty of overall shots, I was able to watch the wreath and get it off to the side a bit or something.
The wreath aside, there was a Coke machine right behind the bride too!  It was crazy.
I can't wait to show the pictures of just the bride we took after the ceremony, I think they are going to be gorgeous, we used window light and did some silhouettes.
K, kids, I am off to another shoot, so editing must wait.

Susie talks about a wedding and posts a photo. Marian then posts a photo that was taken if not the same time, the same people and place.

I am really confused...

Hahhahah...I wasn't there, if that's what you are wondering. I took the photo she posted, straightened it, enlarged it, and overall just played around with it.  Cheesy

Oh swell. Now who am I gonna talk to all day...  Cheesy

Hey Marian, I'll be here off and on all day today.

And Susie, you know we're friends and I love your work, but this is not one of your best by a long shot.  Please show us some of your better work that we have come to expect from this wedding.  And the one you're shooting now for that matter.

My biggest problem with this particular image is that she doesn't appear to be especially thin, and the angles you have chosen in this image have not done anything to help her with that at all.  Low camera angles and wide angle shots of people should be very carefully chosen, especially when those techniques are combined.

I realize this is a candid shot, and it sounds like you were somewhat limited on space and potential angles; but I don't think you have done the best you are capable of with this photo.

I hope you're not too mad at me for being so blunt on this post, but I really think you are so much more talented than this image shows.

I know, silly people, that's why I posted it.  Do you think I am posting it to brag?  Yikes.
I was sorta uncreative wasn't I?  Looking through the ceremony I have good clean shots.  Nothing stand out though.  I hate to make excuses... but I did have a couple Smiley

Fashion show went fabulous tonight, if anyone cares.  We were "community sponsors" and got our name on the program and everything, we felt like stars, LOL.  But they pronounced our last name wrong.  Oh well.
Sorry that was chatty and off the topic, but it was about photography Smiley
