Dave, what HDR software do you use?

Comments and Harsh Critiques gladly accepted. My photos are ok to edit.

I used photomatix, it creates a 'pseudo' HDR from a single raw file, that took me to about 75% of the pp. I will post the original raw file as soon as I get a chance.

Here's the original as promised, straight out of the camera....

Yeah I like the edit better Smiley  Although there is nothing wrong with the original.

(sorry, just couldn't help but post).

I was impressed with the first shot, but I'm even more impressed by it now that I've seen where it started.

Do you mind explaining a little more on how you got from the original to the final version?

Exaggerate the sliders in ACR. Have fun, it is a cool effect.

Good job Dave

Glad you liked it Ryan. The original raw file was opened in Photomatix HDR software. You can use it to make a HDR image from a single raw. It's not a true HDR but works quite well. After tone mapping I had detail in the sky and foreground. The area of the sun was still burnt out so I cloned some of the surrounding area back to where the sun was.
I added a gradient layer over the sky - black to transparent - and changed the layer blend mode to overlay. This made things much more dramatic.I then started wotk on the colour, using hue and saturation adjustment layers with masks.
Finally I did lots of dodge and burn to get the light and shade as I wanted them to be.
I know this is hardly a tutorial but it gives an overview of the process and I hope it's of some help.

If you want anything more specific just ask  Smiley
