Rotating backups

How do y'all rotate your backups?

What I'm looking at is keeping daily copies for the current week so what I backup today would overwrite the Wednesday backup from last week.  Once a week I'd copy the file to a weekly backup that would be overwritten every week.  And once a month I'd copy to a monthly folder which wouldn't be overwritten.  As the drive fills up the monthly backups could be moved to DVD as needed.

And if it matters to the discussion this is for web site data, not photography.  Backing up images like this, while probably what I should be doing, would take up far too much space.

As my website data doesn't change much, I only back it up when I make a change. I know doing frequent changes helps the ranking in search engines, but I really don't have much to add on a frequent basis. Tongue

That's a good point.  But this website is one of the ones that's in the rotation and it changes quite a bit Cheesy Grin

I just split off the discussion on updating your site.  It's a good topic and I thought it deserved it's own thread.
