Canon Speedlite System, Digital Field Guide is a book I picked up when I was shooting weddings to better learn how to use my set of Speedlites. At the time I had just upgraded from having one flash, a Canon 550ex, to multiple by adding a 420ex.
The goal was to learn how to use the 550ex as a master with the 420ex as a slave. Even though the 420ex was primarily either a backup or used on a second, active, body; I knew that having multiple lights would improve my shots.
What I expected was a better explanation of how multiple Speedlites worked together. Better, at least, than the very cursory explanations in the Canon manuals. What I found was a book full of lighting techniques and real world examples. It wound up being a fairly good book on lighting in general, and was even better because it was specific to the gear I was using.
Since getting the book they’ve published a second edition, and I’m not sure what the differences are. My guess would be that the new edition covers the newer Canon flashes.
It’s available as a paperback from Amazon and also for kindle
