As a Canon guy I’ve never tried this lens, but I do have the Canon equivalent. It’s not often when I need the speed of f/1.8 or a fixed 50mm focal length, but when it’s dark or I need a really short depth of field it’s the lens to use. And since it’s so small it gets a place in my camera bag no matter what I’m planning.

Released earlier this month, The Nikon AF-S DX Micro 40mm f/2.8 is a lens for DX formatted Nikon dSLRs that allow you to get up close and personal with your subject.

As a micro lens you will be able to focus up to 16cm (~ 6. inches) and the short depth of field possible with an f/2.8 lens will allow to you easily control the blur around your image. A Silent Wave Motor (SWM) gives you quiet autofocus to limit disturbances to any small animals and insects you may be photographing.
