scene interpretation

I went for a photo walk today and when I discovered this thorny vine on this unfriendly fence behind yet another fence (bike rack), my mind said, "barriers"

I didn't succeed in capturing or perhaps interpreting the scene very well.

Your feedback is appreciated.

The top rail of the bike rack kind of splits the scene in half, since it's smack dab in the middle of the frame. It's acting like a horizon line. Add to that the dark tones in the background (above the rail) and the very light foreground (below the rail) and it doesn't have much cohesiveness within the frame. Lots of nice textures in there though.

It feels like it needs to be straightened. I keep tilting my head to the right. However, the front bars seem to be straight, but the back bars are not.

I can see what you were going for. The brightness of the bottom of it just kills my eyes. Maybe if you cropped it differently? Like so:

Thanks for the feedback.

I think time of day was a huge part of the fail.
There is also a ton of stuff around this little spot that, if in the frame would kill the theme.

It maybe a lost cause in this instance. I will look for a similar scene to occur with less obstacles.
