Hi Marian, I like it. I like the expression, the hat, the crop (especially) and the tones. I probably would have short lit it. Turning the other way would have been a lot more interesting.
I am not strict about using only certain lighting patterns. I think you were going for a split light thing since you have one eye not lit, and I think that's fine. I just would have turned the other way, your nose seems to catch my attention before your eyes.

I agree with Susie, short lit "might" add some good drama, but it might add too much as well. Very good job!!! My only nit is crop it more, your shoulder makes it too "My Space" where if your shoulder was cropped out nobody would think you were taking the photo with your cell phone.
