Yes, I know it's not really called a Pixar lamp.  But I can't think of what it's called off the top of my head.

my big question is "why" a 100w daylight bulb and "he" would still have a "face"

It's a Luxo lamp and the character is Luxo, Jr.   There was a Luxo lamp on John Lassiter's desk when he came up with the character.
