The closing of our art gallery.

Well, today is the last day the art gallery will be open that my husband and I own. We gave it a good try, learned a lot about the business, and met some wonderful artists. However, the economy fought against us the entire time and now we need to cut our losses. Unfortunately, people would walk in and say, "wow...this place is amazing...this town really needed something like this," and then they'd walk out without buying a thing. If just 1/2 of those had bought something, we'd still be in business. Five other businesses in our small town have also closed their doors this month. So if I seem a bit short with anyone, if I disappear for days, it's because I'm mourning the death of a dream.

Oh Marian, I am so sorry.  It is so frustrating when things you work so hard for don't turn out.  However, I know this sounds so corny and overused but remember that everything happens for a reason.  You are a smart and talented person, other doors will open, just watch for them.
In the meantime keep your chin up!

Thanks, Susie and Mike. Smiley I can't say I'm sorry we ever opened it, though, as I did learn so much about the business of marketing artwork.

Right, never be sorry for anything you did with good intentions!

Sorry about the gallery. I lost my studio space last month but won't really miss it until it gets really hot.

I am sorry about your art gallery Marian.

I think that your attitude about it and the fact that you are learning from it will be a very valuable asset to your future endeavors.
