Two informal portraits from my last trip.

As a newbie here, I'd like to introduce myself with these two pictures taken in northern Laos in the beginning of this year.

With any of my pictures all comments and critiques are welcomed.

The first is the head of tourism for one of the provinces taken at his office.
The second is a little girl whose mother had a roadside restaurant in very northern Laos (13 KM from China) and it is likely we were the first Westerners had seen up close. My traveling companion for those few days was a Brit who was 6'6" and he caused jaws to drop wherever we went.

Both of these pix were taken with the Nikon 18-200 VR lens. Not a bad result for a hyperzoom, I think.

Hi Traveler, you do get around don't you.  Smiley

Very good shots.  As you have one, can you tell me why the lens na_is get all worked up over that lens?  It has to be a joy to shoot and the results look fine on my monitor and I assume a 300dpi print as well.

Good to see you here!

Well, it's not critically sharp at either extremes but as a multi-purpose that doesn't brak the bank, it's unparalleled.
I spent 5+ weeks in Laos using this 99% of the time (and a 50 mm the rest.)
