I've never had good luck with the clone tool, so I usually use the Patch tool. Here is a before and after example of using the Patch tool. (Ignore my poor attempt at darkening the background. I don't like how it looks along the darker dog's fur.
) To get the eye, I resized and rotated the eye from another photo of this same dog, copied it with a feathering of 6px, and pasted it onto this photo. Start to finish, about 20min.
