The "Warhol look" is really popular because you can make the colors match your wall.
This is a little tutorial on how to make 1/4 of the image like the one he did of Marilyn that is so popular
pick a suitable photo (close face shot)
* crop it square
* create a new layer
* delete the background from the new layer.
(don't forget to de-select the background (original layer)
* on the new layer click Image->adjust->threshold move the slider till it looks right
* select the background (original layer) edit->fill->color now pick a color
This is just the first step, but I like it so much I'm stopping here
