That's smart, I wish I had a wireless remote for my D200, o well.
It was my past time, so, if you don't know, here's some tips.
I don't know if you can, so,
Place a feeder to one side, tie a branch near so that the feeder is out of the scene. The bird lands on the branch, voila, your "natural" wildlife shot instead of a bird at the feeder shot.
Logs and other things can work also.
Here's a couple of samples of what I used to do; yes, I am a Birder, just haven't done it for a while, I've found a new specie of birds.

The first one, a point and shoot, Fuji S5000
The second one Canon 20D 70-200 f/2.8
Wild look, feeder to the left, branch tied at right on pole.
