working on website and confused

I'm finally trying to figure out my website after more than a year of it just sitting in cyberspace. I downloaded the filezilla, but can't remember the password to connect. My brother was helping me with it and he emailed me a link which he told me to install in the filezilla. I'm not sure how to install that link...when I click on it, there's a ton of code?

My little brother should be home tonight...just wondering if I'm missing something tiny. I've downloaded filezilla "client". The hard drive died on this computer last fall so I'm having to redo everything from old notes!
The other thing is that I set up a wordpress blog associated with the site. I can't figure out how to connect the blog to the blog header in the website. I'm assuming that's thru filezilla as well?
Thanks, Paula

Hi Paula

If you happen to know your username and password for your cPanel, then it is generally the same user name and password for your ftp connection. On many servers (such as with my hosting accounts) the ftp address is simply your domain name - some require that it be prepended with ftp  (like ftp.yourdomain.com).

Are you referring to your GiddyKids.com based on the phpCrazySite, or a different website that you have. If it is the CrazySite hosted with me, just email me and I will help you out with your ftp setup.

Any links to your WordPress Blog would simply be including the url of the blog in the link. Example - www.yourwebsite.com/yourblog/ .

WIth the phpCrazySite, in the "Site Settings" (when logged in), click on "Main Menu Links" and create a new link (if Blog link is not there) in this format "My Blog%%http://domain_name.com/blog_folder_name/" or if the blog is on it's own domain name "My Blog%%http://blog_name.com". Everything before the "%%" is the name for the link and everything after "%%" is the address (url) of your blog

Please let me know if you currently have access to your cPanel. If you do, then your user name and password will be the same for your FTP connection. If not, then I will need to reset your password as I do not have access to it if you cannot remember it (Perhaps you have the email with that info that I sent you when the account was set up).

If you know your CPANEL info, your ftp information will likely be:

Address (Host on some FTP clients) = giddykids.com
User Name = same as your CPANEL user name
Password = same as your CPANEL password

Hey Robert: I linked the blog...simple! Thanks!

And does anyone know if there's a book that spells all this stuff out very simply? I hate to keep asking my little brother...I really need to figure this stuff out! Do I just google everything?
Thanks again, Paula

I'm a big fan of the "for Dummies" books.  That's the first books I look at when I'm trying to pick up a new topic.  Barnes & Noble also publishes a pretty good set of beginner books on computer topics.

Pretty funny that I've never bought a "for dummies" book...but I really need one on this topic!
Thanks for the suggestion!
