There is quite a bit of discussion on web design boards about using www on the front of domain names. The web design boards usually fall into discussions about what is technically correct and the technology behind using redirects and that sort of thing but rarely talks about the visitors. So since this forum isn't as saturated with web geeks, what do y'all think about using www on the front of your domains versus not doing it - example.com versus
www.example.com? I've started dropping the www on a couple of my other web projects and haven't seen any reason other than aesthetics to do it. I don't believe the traffic changes. In my case I just like the look of the url without the www. I think it looks cleaner. Plus it's less text to try and fit on a business card or ad.
There's a group that put up a website with instructions on how to do the rewrites so that if people type in
www.example.com your server will redirect to example.com so that you don't loose the traffic. It's at
no-www.org.
