Cindy,

Are you using anyone's Photoshop actions?  Or, are you doing this all by your lonesome?

Hi Ed,
I'm an action junkie.  I have all of the Kobuta (Artistic 1,2,3 and Production Tools), Nik Pro 2, and about 300 brushes I picked up for free on Adobe exchange, as well of a few Yervant, and Shembie Actions that I picked up at DWF.  I also have a lot of actions that I've built that are my "little touches".  And then of course, as I've already referred to, I'm big on Liquify, and painting with dodge and burn.
Probably the single most used action is KK's "Smokeless Burn" in which I paint in post light in various mixes.

He's the original of #1 in which I used several mixes of Smokeless burn to achieve what I believe is the more etheral lighting.

Yeah . . . I've become addicted to Kevin's actions as well!  I don't have the set with "Smokeless Burn", but I probably will by the summer.

Even the original capture here is beautiful, which just goes to show that you need to have something to start with.

Thank you Ed!  Smokeless burn is in the second set I believe.  Having all the sets, I  believe that KKs 2nd one is the best of all.  For light skin retouching it has Makeup Artist.  For stunning black and white, it has Mocha BW, Smokeless Burn, Digital Fill flash (which can be a lifesaver), and Lord of the Rings Everyday, which is pretty stunning.  Also Tones in Red, Brown, Blue, Split, and Selective.  I love the fact that all the actions are in various layers, so that I can tweak to my own personal style.

It can be seen just behind the other one.  (This is a 20x24 print)

Uhm, am I going to be the only picky one.

Granted they look o.k. with potential.

#1 the tilt is abit awkward, the almost middle left side of the image, that thing is distracting. Vignette needs some work
#2 has potential, it screeeeeeems, black job on the floor, the shadow of the foot is a distraction and the blown out glass is competing for attention. Because it's white.
#3 is probably the most potential, more seperation from the hair to piano would be nice, and the "Plastique" make over is not overly appealing. abit of care in make over can be done with an "Au naturelle"

I hope I was honest enough.

Hi Mike, I appreciate you taking the time to give me your honest opinion.  Some of the mods have been of a slightly same opinion as well.
Here's the thing that bugs me about internet opinions though......you have no website listed, and I can find no examples of work.  I'm not saying this is you, but the internet is rife with people with a lot of opinion, and no real work experience.
OTOH, the guys in the real show, or whatever the critique forum is called, have earned their stripes.  You may have as well for all I know.......but in fact I know very little about you.  Could you post your professional website so I can kind of judge where you are coming from?  You might be really classic, while I'm all out there 20-30 somethings.  It helps me decide how much grain to take with the salt.

I need a resume, hmm.

Well, I do have 25 years experience in Nature Photography, granted, I'm not making a living at weddings. It's not my cup of tea, however, I do have a few samples at my smugmug temp site until I have one on my own.

I'm in College photography program a 2 year.
Long story short, I reinjured my back, so, i went to college and moved my family here in London Ontario.

So, yes, i have some knowledge about exposure and especially photoshopping when I see it in images. Like you said, it's an internet thing, plus, we should all be open to critiques right. Not just a select few right.

So, respect comes in all packages, it's not about who is aloud to speak, it's a free country, well, it is in Canada.

in the mean time, i'll check yours out.

It still in the working and uploading stages, i haven't had the time to do alot.

Enjoy

Hi Mike,
It wasn't intended that way at all.  Please don't take offense.  Sometimes I just feel the need to check out the work of the person giving the critque.  Not to see whether it's good or bad, but to see if it's MY cup of tea.  It has nothing to do with anyone's right to speech. I'm sorry about your back.  I hope it gets better soon. :-)

I like your presentation/site, nicely done.

I can't afford a site yet, in second year, we will be doing our own site using Dreamweaver macromedia, looking forward to that.

After second year, I will be having repairs done to the first surgery. There is a screw pulled, plus they are going to fuse L4. At the moment, S1 and L5 are fused, well, not really, it didn't take, as to why for further surgery. So, S1-L4 and posibly L3 they have to explore when repairing etc..

Not fun, o well.

Thanks Cindy

Oh crap, my sister had the same thing done.  Good news was that she was back at her desk in 4 weeks.  It's amazing what these guys can do.  Just get better soon.
No worries my friend.  The internet is a weird crop of land.  You can't see the real intensions too often which is sad.  I saw your site and I thought it was really super pretty.    Just get better. :-)
