Zipping files.

I recevied a promotional email today from Corel for WinZip Pro and PhotoZip.  They claim that PhotoZip is especially designed for high resolution JPEG images.  This supposedly can be done without worrying about any image quality loss with 20-25% compression.

Thoughts?  It's $40 USD for the Pro software.

Oh yeah, I'd like to hear anyone's opinion about that too.

I'm kinda skeptical.  In general zipping an already compressed file doesn't do any good.  I've actually zipped jpgs and had the zip file wind up bigger than the jpg.  Does PhotoZip actually make a zip file, or is it compressing a jpeg, but keeping it a jpeg?

The reason I am interested is because you can't email folders, but you can zip a folder and send it.  Although traditional zipping works.  I'll admit, I don't know much about zip stuff.

Try 7-Zip.  It's an open-source unzipping program.

Thanks for your response Ryan. I don't really know too much about what it does, as far as how it compresses the file, I just got marketing hype and thought someone here may know more about it.  You could be right though, it may not be all it's promoted as.
